Dry Dock Brewing: A New Chapter Begins

There’s a buzz of excitement in Aurora’s craft beer scene as Dry Dock Brewing embarks on a transformative journey after 20 remarkable years. The beloved brewery is setting the stage for a new brewpub experience in 2026 following its collaboration with fellow Colorado staple, Left Hand Brewing. While this transition means bidding farewell to their original taproom, it also marks the dawn of a future bursting with potential for passionate beer adventurers.

The original Aurora location at 15120 E. Hampden Ave., which launched Dry Dock into the annals of Colorado beer history, is set to close come January. Founded in 2005 behind The Brew Hut, a cornerstone for local homebrewers, Dry Dock rapidly outgrew its 900-square-foot beginnings to become a decorated powerhouse with accolades like 28 Great American Beer Festival medals and eight World Beer Cup awards.

Looking Forward with Gratitude

Dry Dock’s co-founder, Kevin DeLange, expressed heartfelt appreciation to their community, saying, “We can’t thank our community enough for all the support over the years and look forward to sharing a beer, a laugh, or a memory with you these next two months.” As Dry Dock steps into this new era, there’s an atmosphere of gratitude for past triumphs and optimism for what’s to come.

The merger with Left Hand Brewing, finalized in April 2025, opens exciting doors for Dry Dock. Left Hand, known for its innovation and reach—with taprooms in Longmont and Denver—will bring a refreshed vision to Dry Dock’s operations. Dry Dock’s footprint is expanding beyond state lines, reaching 17 states, the Netherlands, and Mexico, with further horizons set to be explored in 2026.

The Ongoing Legacy of The Brew Hut

The Brew Hut, a homebrew haven, remains a pivotal part of Dry Dock’s story. As its founders seek a new custodian to continue its legacy, they cherish its role as the launchpad for many homebrewers who have flourished into accomplished brewers themselves. DeLange and Reding remain committed to finding someone as passionate about homebrewing as they have been.

Michelle Reding is leading the charge to identify the ideal location for the new brewpub, ensuring it reflects Dry Dock’s spirit while catering to the craft-loving community. “Our goal is to create a Dry Dock-themed brewpub that pairs great beer and elevated food in a craft beer-loving neighborhood,” she shares. As for The Brew Hut, it continues to be an indispensable resource for those just starting on their brewing journey or for seasoned brewers seeking quality supplies.

A Toast to the Future

While the Aurora taproom may be closing, Dry Dock Brewing’s horizons are expanding dramatically. Enthusiasts, whether longtime fans or new explorers, are invited to join this exciting evolution. The forthcoming brewpub and expanding distribution promise to bring more unforgettable beer experiences to fans across the country and the globe. Cheers to new beginnings and continued passion in craft brewing!
