Each quarter, we highlight exceptional individuals making waves in brewing, showcasing their journeys and the impact of their accomplishments.
A Closer Look at the Michael James Jackson Foundation
The Michael James Jackson Foundation, named after the legendary beer and whiskey author, is dedicated to fostering diversity within the craft beer industry. By providing scholarships to underrepresented communities, the foundation seeks to create a more inclusive environment. Garrett Oliver, the long-standing Brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery, founded the MJF in 2020, aiming to level the playing field for People of Color in brewing. With fifty scholarships granted so far, these educational opportunities empower individuals to gain certifications and advance their brewing careers without the financial burden.
Craft beer aficionados can explore more about the MJF’s ripple effect within the industry through our Varsity Brews series, featuring the stories of Gali Hernandez, Anthony Rahí Jaquez Moreno, and Stefano Annicchiarico.
